Re-use, re-make, re-gift, re-cycle, daily procedures that extend into art making. In what will be a series of collages, I intend to use materials already in use that have been discarded including all framing formats.
Since a young girl I recall my earliest concerns regarding the amount of garbage produced, along with human waste. Thoughts back then - where on earth does it all go?
Love Your View, speaks to our so-called belongings that are without doubt taking over. It reflects cumulative greed, the need to shop, to own, to attain, to have, to throw away, to discard, and our collective denial of waste ownership. From layers of textiles, packaging, components, tires, reams of endless items once deemed valuable, serving for brief moments in time to then reside forever to toxify Earth’s landscape. And bound within the piles of our debris flows the colourful magnification of human feces.
A peaceful form of revolution, art expresses and generates a narrative from lived experience within current culture. An opportunity to create from all the feels, from despair to euphoria and everything in between. Art has the power to trigger a commitment for both the creator and viewer.
As these concerns have deepened throughout my life, I am aware that; every action, of every human, every single day, is critical in considering what it is we truly value.
My life is sustained and nourished by Earth.
